Professor Scott Bell, a QHealth Research Fellow, is interested in the clinical impact of clonal Pseudomonas aeruginosa in cystic fibrosis.

The same strain of P. aeruginosa is commonly found in patients within CF centres on the eastern seaboard of Australia, which is of concern as this bacterium is usually acquired from the environment.

Prof Bell aims to provide information on the clinical implications and risk factors of being infected by this clonal strain so as to provide a rationale basis for the need for changes to infection control policies.
