The role of the independent advisory committee is to provide advice to the AID Director and management committee, and undertake review of Centre goals and strategic direction.
Professor Victor Nizet
Victor Nizet is the Vice Chair for Basic Research in the Department of Pediatrics, Professor of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Chief of the Division of Host-Microbe Systems and Therapeutics at UCSD. He also is faculty lead for the new UCSD Collaborative to Halt Antibiotic-Resistant Microbes (CHARM), debuting in 2019.
Dr Jeannette Young
Dr Jeanette Young has been the Chief Health Officer of Queensland since 2005 and since August 2015 she has also held the role of Deputy Director-General Prevention Division. Previously she worked in a range of positions in hospitals in Queensland and Sydney. She has specialist qualifications as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators and as a Fellow by Distinction of the Faculty of Public Health of the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom.
Professor Dennis Liotta
Dennis Liotta serves as Executive Director of the Emory Institute for Drug Development and Samuel Candler Dobbs Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Emory University. Professor Liotta is recognized as one of the premier discoverers of novel therapeutics in the United States, having been the inventor of record for several clinically important antivirals and associated with the invention of ten FDA approved therapeutics.
Dr. Mark Ashton
Mark Ashton is UniQuest’s executive director, intellectual property commercialisation. He leads a team responsible for commercialising UQ’s intellectual property. Before joining UniQuest, he held positions as executive vice-president (business development) of the European-based biotech company Evotec, and president of the drug discovery operations division of Evotec. Mark currently serves as a director of the Australian biotech company, Vaxxas Pty Ltd and was previously a board director of Dimerix Bioscience Pty Ltd and a board observer of Spinifex Inc.
