Professor Kirsty Short

My research focuses on the pathogenesis of influenza virus.

Specifically, I am interested in understanding

1. How influenza virus damages the lung during infection
2. Why asthmatics are susceptible to severe influenza infections and
3. How influenza virus can trigger the development of asthma.

I am also actively engaged in developing new tools for the in vitro and in vivo imaging of influenza virus infections.
