EUREKA Prize for Infectious Diseases Research 2025 Winners
We extend our warmest congratulations to the recipients of the EUREKA Prize for Infectious Diseases Research. AID has been the proud sponsor of this prestigious national award that recognises outstanding research in infectious diseases that benefits, or has the potential to benefit, human health.
This year’s prize was awarded to Professor Helen Marshall and the Vaccines and Infectious Diseases Group at the University of Adelaide, in collaboration with SA Pathology, the Department for Health and Wellbeing (SA Health), the Women’s and Children’s Hospital, and Northern Territory Health.
The team’s groundbreaking research showed that a single vaccine can protect against both meningococcal B disease and gonorrhoea - two serious infections that disproportionately affect First Nations young people. This work has influenced global vaccine policy and helped shape national immunisation programs.
A special thank you to Professor Melissa Brown, Executive Dean, UQ Faculty of Science, for presenting the EUREKA Prize for Infectious Diseases Research.
